what is capncap?

a multi-stream screen recording app for macOS. record your screen and camera as separate streams, then let viewers choose their preferred layout.

what makes it different?

unlike traditional screen recorders that bake everything into one video, capncap keeps each stream separate. viewers can switch between picture-in-picture, side-by-side, screen-only, or other layouts while watching.

what can I record?

any combination of screens, windows, and cameras. each source is captured as an independent stream.

where are recordings stored?

recordings stay on your Mac. when you are signed in they also upload for the link, to Cloudflare R2 in the EU.

who can see my recordings?

you control visibility. recordings can be private (just you), link-only (anyone with the link), or public (visible on your profile).

what devices are supported?

the recording app runs on macOS 27+. recordings can be viewed in any modern web browser.

is capncap free?

yes, capncap is free.

how do I sign in?

we use Apple Sign-In. your Apple ID email stays private unless you choose to share it.
